Teen Arrested on suspicion of Christmas Hacking

Over the Christmas Period many people took to their live gaming networks to enjoy their gifts, the live networks: PSN and Xbox Live went down due to cyber-attacks which left millions of user’s offline.
The hacking group ‘Lizard squad’ which have been linked to a number of disturbed denial of service attacks (DDoS), later claimed responsibility for the cyber-attacks.
News has now come to light that an 18 year old male has been arrested in Merseyside in suspicion of the Christmas cyber-attacks, among other rumoured cyber crime.
The teen has also been detained in connection to online death threats and ‘swatting’ – a new form of cyber crime where online users give to law enforcement agencies hoax information online. Some celebrities have already fallen victim to this crime the likes of actor Tom Cruise among those.
It has been reported that Deputy chief constable Peter Goodman, national policing lead for cybersecurity made a statement saying: “This arrest demonstrates that we will pursue those who commit crime with the false perception they are protected within their own homes or hiding behind anonymous online personas”.
In other news the US president and UK priminister are coming together to communicate more effectively against cyber crime and cyber attacks will be arranged on each other as part of a new joint defence against online criminals.
