New orthopaedics available on NHS through insurance link up

The Malvern Orthopaedic Company’s breakthrough Leg Support and Leg Exerciser will soon be available on the NHS, following a link up with ADF Insurance by Life Science specialists myM-link.

With two innovative products to aid rehabilitation of the lower limb about to enter clinical trials, the Malvern Orthopaedic Company identified a need for public and product liability insurance, which is required before a medical device manufacturer can trade with the NHS. This rare and hugely expensive policy can prove a barrier for some start-ups, but myM-link’s expert team were able to arrange a link up with ADF Insurance, a niche medical broker.

ADF Insurance was able to provide £5 million of cover for the ‘The Devon Leg Support’, which allows the surgeon to effectively control the position of the lower limb of a patient whilst in bed in terms of rotation, angulation and elevation, and ‘The G-Knee(r) Leg Exerciser’, which provides active restoration of range of movement of the lower limb following injury or surgery.
